http://left-az.livejournal.com , the Azerbaijan Progressive Socialist Party (APSP), and the Left Socialists of Azerbaijan independent expert group express extreme anxiety and condemnation with respect to the bloodshed in Bahrain and state their support of the just and democratic demands expressed by this country’s people in peaceful rallies.

Bahraini people took to the streets On February 14, coinciding with the 10 th anniversary of the National Action Charter - the national instrument for reform, for which the Bahraini people cast their votes a majority of 98% in the year 2001, and which will ensure political reforms in our country.

People have chosen this date to request from the monarchy of promised political reforms, which mean an immediate effective measures to reform the political system, fight against corruption, non-discrimination of religious groups in Bahrain and ensure an equitable distribution of wealth. This peaceful demonstration was met with brutal reaction of the authorities of Bahrain, which resulted in seven people have been killed so far. This campaign of repression continues as the police use of firearms, blocking a number of villages and towns and breaks into the house. They also brought army tanks and APCs on streets .

This repressive attack is a clear declaration refusal of the authorities of the reform project, although the government guaranteed the right to peaceful protest, in accordance with the constitutional amendments of 2002.

Therefore, we appeal to all Arab and international organizations to launch a protest campaign to expose the actions Authorities in Bahrain, including demonstrations outside embassies of Bahrain and UN offices in your countries, as well as appeal to the judicial organization in this regard. We also ask you to send statements of protest against this policy in the Bahraini embassy or directly by fax to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain.

Bahraini people are waiting for your courageous position in order to regain their legitimate right to live in dignity, in conditions of freedom and justice.

Call for immediate solidarity action

The people of Bahrain took to the streets on 14 ^th February coinciding with the 10 ^th anniversary of the National Action Chart, the national document for reform which the people of Bahrain had cast their votes for it by 98% in 2001, and it grants political reforms in our country.

The people have chosen the date to demand from the monarchy to make the political reforms it has promised, which call for immediate effective measures to reform the political system, fight corruption, refrain from sectarian discrimination in Bahrain , and to ensure a just distribution of wealth. This peaceful demonstration was met by barbaric reaction by the authority in Bahrain, resulted in 7 people being killed up to now, and this repression campaign is still going on as police are using life ammunition; as well as surrounding the entrances of some villages and towns, and storming into houses; they also deployed tanks and armoured vehicles of the army in the streets. This repressed attach is considered an obvious declaration of the abandon of the reform project on the part of the authorities which guaranteed the right to peaceful protests as stated in the amended constitution of 2002.

Hence, we appeal to all Arab and International organizations to start a protest campaign in order to expose the practices of the authorities in Bahrain ; and to demonstrate outside Bahrain Embassies in your countries as well as outside of UN premises, and keep contact with jurisdiction organization in this regard. We also request from you to send protesting messages to Bahrain Embassies to protest against this policy or directly to the fax of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bahrain. The people of Bahrain look forward to your brave stance in order to seize their legitimate right to live free, in dignity, and justice.
